Did you know that playing can help your kids in so many ways? Playing relates to any activity engaged in for the enjoyment it gives, without consideration of the end result. It differs from work because work is an activity toward an end, in which the individual carries out the activity, not because he enjoys it but because he wants the end results. Drawing may be a hobby and it may be considered as work when the motive of the person who draw is to earn a living.
Playing is essential in developing one’s muscles and exercises all parts of one’s body. It also serves as an outlet for surplus energy, which, if pent up, makes the child tense, nervous and irritable. Playing has a therapeutic value too as it helps the child express his emotions. It also provides an outlet for needs and desires which cannot be met in any other way. Through playing with toys, kids learn so many things.
It offers a child an opportunity to be creative too. It enables him to experiment and test out his abilities with those of others. This enables him to establish a more definite and realistic concept of himself. By playing with other children, the child learns how to establish social relationships with strangers and how to meet and solve the problems such relationships bring. Through cooperative games, child learns how to give and take.
Playing has moral values too.In fact, it is one of the forces in the moral training of the child. The child knows he must be fair, honest, truthful, self controlled, a good sport, and a good loser.
