The End Does Not Justify The Mean

Posted by bluedreamer on August 29, 2010 in articles with No Comments

“The end does not justify the mean” . Have you ever heard of this quote? What does it mean? The first time I heard the statement above, I wasn’t exactly sure what it really means. Honestly. Our instructor wrote those words in the blackboard during our class and asked us, his students, the meaning. I was so glad he did not ask me directly, because if he did, I swear I would stammer and remain silent. Our instructor gave us an example. I can’t remember the exact words, but the idea was like this: John has a very sick daughter, but due to lack of money, the hospital won’t admit his daughter. To get the necessary money, his only choice is to rob a bank. In this case, does the end (to save his daughter) justify the means (to rob a bank)? If you were in my position that time, how are you going to answer? Do you agree that it is not always right to do something wrong to get to something right?

Keeping yourself in Track

Posted by bluedreamer on August 15, 2010 in Entertainment, articles with No Comments

I used to read broadsheets newspaper to keep myself updated from the latest happenings in government and in showbiz too. I just love reading current events and other parts of the newspaper including the sports section where i can track if my favorite team is on the lead or not. I also love the entertainment section where i can view all the latest celebrity gossips and blind items. Business section is my least favorite however, i try to keep my self updates with the latest status of the stock market and the latest foreign exchange rate. My Grandfather, who is an american citizen, used to help me in my studies by providing me a financial assistance. He used to send me checks, or sometimes “door to door” remittance and i will be the one to exchange the money (dollar) to our currency (peso). This is the reason why i always check the latest and  updated Forex charts to know if i received the right amount when it is converted to peso. Anyway, reading a newspaper will help you in so many ways. It can broadened your knowledge, widened your skills in communication, keep you updated and enhance your grammar when writing an article.

Boredom no More!

Posted by bluedreamer on August 15, 2010 in articles, tips with No Comments

Here’s is the continuation of my post about getting rid of boredom. Another way of keeping your self from getting bored. It is great if you will give your self a “Private hour” each day to do only what you want. Read, re do your stuffs, or just sit quietly and think. Try to see the funny side of life. Laughter is the best tonic for boredom. The more you laugh, the less bored you will be. Vary or change your home setting. A hom,e should have an occasional face-lifting and this can be done without any cost. Change the position of the chairs. If you have curtains at hte windows, remove them and change them into something new or you can also place plants instead. If you have a porch, you can serve your meal there instead of in hte dining room or kitchen.

Change your recreation. Recreation or a hobby should be something  you like to do, not something you feel you ought to do because your wifey, hubby or your children or some people like it.

In work, try your best to approach your job creatively. Repetitious chores are not necessarily boring if you keep your mind active while engaged in them.  Thus, while you are cleaning and dusting, devise ways and means to do hte work better or shorten the time in doing them. We are being creative when we discover something new to us.

I have more exciting tips to share so watch out for it. Happy blogging everyone

What You Should Know About Contact Lenses

Posted by bluedreamer on August 3, 2010 in articles, healthy living with No Comments

What would you prefer to use? Contacts or Eyeglasses? I usually used eyeglasses before but since they are too bulky, i decided to switch and use Contact lenses instead. Not all contact lenses are healthy to use. Some lenses especially those non-prescription, can damage your eyes which can result to a poor eyesight. The first thing that you should know about contact lenses is that only a professional eye examination can determine your eyecare needs. This examination will show whether eyeglasses or contact lenses are better for you.

While conventional eyeglasses are a vital part of the lives of million people with poor eyesight, contact lenses provide greater field of vision because they rest or lie directly on the eye itself. For anyone who requires seeing a wide field, this benefit alone could make all the difference in the world.

Contact lenses are not for everyone too. Contact lenses cannot correct every form of vision problem or be worn by everyone, but it is amazing how many people they can help. Some people will not achieve the same degree of vision correction with contact lenses as they do with eyeglasses. Naturally, you must have your eyes examined professionally to determine whether you can benefit from contact lenses. And it is reassuring to know that most common vision problems in healthy eyes that can be corrected  with contact lenses, although particular eyes will determine which is better.

So decide what will you use? Eyeglasses or contact lenses?

Ace the Job Interview

Posted by bluedreamer on June 30, 2010 in articles, job with No Comments

I’ve been working since i was 16 years old so i guess i am very familiar with the list below! I found this in a magazine and i think it’s quite interesting to share here.
Fresh graduates will now hunt for jobs in different industries. It is an opportunity to grow and apply all the things that we learn from school. It also means another group of people will add the unemployment rate in our country.

So what must we do in order for us not to be part of the unemployed group? How can we wow the company we wish to work with? Better follow these tips:

Company Research
Research should always be your first step. Gathering background information on employers is a crucial element in successful interview preparation. You will need to be prepared to answer the questions “What do your know about our company”? and “Why do you want to work here?” Knowing as much as possible about the company’s past performance and future plans can make your interview more interactive and could be just the leg up you need in a competitive job market. Before the interview review the company’s web site and don’t be afraid to contact your prospective employer to request details on the position you are interviewing for or to ask for company literature.

Practice Makes Perfect

Practice makes perfect (or at least leads to improvement). Practice with a friend and record or videotape your responses so you can replay the interview and see how well you did. Prepare answers to commonly asked interview questions. Doing so will help you analyze your background and qualifications for the position.

Behavioral Interviews
Behavior based interviewing is becoming more common. It is based on the premise that a candidates past performance is the best predictor of future performance. Rather than the typical interview questions on your background and experience, you will you need to be prepared to provide detailed responses including specific examples of your work experiences.
The best way to prepare is to think of examples where you have successfully used the skills you’ve acquired. Take the time to compile a list of responses to both types of questions and to itemize your skills, values, and interests as well as your strengths and weaknesses. Emphasize what you can do to benefit the company rather than just what you are interested in. Also prepare a list of questions you want to ask the interviewer. Remember, you aren’t simply trying to get the job – you are also interviewing the employer to assess whether this company and the position are a good fit for you.

Prepare For the Interview
It is very important to be on time for the interview. On time means ten to fifteen minutes early. If need be, take some time to drive to the office ahead of time so you know exactly where you are going. Know the interviewer’s name and use it during the interview. If your not sure of the name, call and ask prior to the interview. Remember to bring an extra copy of your resume and a list of references.

Stay Calm
During the interview try to remain as calm as possible. Ask for clarification if you’re not sure what’s been asked and remember that it is perfectly acceptable to take a moment or two to frame your responses so you can be sure too fully answer the question.
End the interview with a thank you to the interviewer and reiterate your interest in the position. Then follow-up with a personal Thank You note restating your interest.

By following the tips above, you’re sure to land to your dream job

Is Money the Root of All Evil??

Posted by bluedreamer on June 13, 2010 in articles with No Comments

Let me ask you “Is MONEY the root of ALL evil?” I am sure all of us already heard this line for more than once and hearing me ask you this question no longer sounds new to you. Am I right?

There is an old saying “Money is the root of all evil”. It might be true… because if you have money, you can make almost everything possible. If you have the money, you have the power. You can seal the truth to make it a lie. If you have the money, you gain respect. Other people will treat you as their God.

With your money, you can buy anything you want. With your money, you can have almost anything you please. Though, I know there are some things that money can’t buy but we will not cover that topic.

So, with the things that anyone can do with money, is money the root of all evil? Well, in my opinion, money can do almost anything… Too much money can make you an evil. Lack of money can also cause an evil act. The government officials steal money from the people because they lack it or they want to be above average. The poor people become thieves because they lack it. In my opinion, money is the the root of most evil… because there are some good things that money can do… like helping the poor or building churches and schools.

Program Your Life

Posted by bluedreamer on June 9, 2010 in articles with No Comments

We know that we are operating in the universe that is logical and precise and that order must pervade all things to ensure continuous, harmonious growth. Apply the principle of “order” to your life from this moment on. Don’t leave the accomplishments of your future goals to “chance” or you will be disappointed. Fortunes are not applied by haphazard investments; Successful operations are not carried out by unskilled “trust-to-luck” surgeons; Jet aircraft are not piloted by “chance” methods; Computers are not assembles by “hit or miss” plans. When marriage partner is selected, it is not by a “I hope it works” procedure. Trains, bus, plane schedules are not left to “chance”. They are all programmed accurately. The sun does not rise at midday; the moon does not shine in the afternoon.
Everything that is to be successful in life must be programmed in accuracy. Commence right now to plan your life. Cease being like a rudderless ship floundering upon rough seas. Play life as would a chess game~ skillfully. By planning our dreams and aspirations carefully we will avoid experiencing a series of muddles, disappointments and failures.
