The Role of Resume

Posted By bluedreamer on August 4, 2010

It was said that out of 10 applicants only 4 or 5 of them get the job that they are desiring for. Maybe the main reason of this huge amount of unemployed individuals is the ongoing global financial crisis.  But did you know that aside from the ability and skills an applicant has, “Resume” also plays a very important role especially when you want to create a good first impression. Employers are favorably impressed when they received a well layout resume. Have it professional typed and copied. Place it in a neat , plain (not colored) folder. Always include a covering letter when mailing your application for a position. Type it and sign it with a legible signature. Your resume should include the following information:

  1. Name, address and contact numbers and email address too if any.
  2. Age and Marital status
  3. Schooling
  4. Previous position held and make sure you leave no historical gaps
  5. Appraise your qualifications and note them briefly

In addition to resume, you can also write a one page biography of your past experience. This does not mean details of early childhood or marital or family problems nor criticism of past employers. Again, make sure that there are no historical gaps. Be specific and be brief.
